How can I create a healthy lawn in the fall? Seeding a lawn in early fall from late August to mid-October, and often as late as November, is often better than seeding in the spring. Due to the sun, the soil is still warm and the seedlings can grow well in it. In spring, seeding often takes longer, because the air and also the soil are still cool. But pay attention to the weather forecast, the ten-degree mark in the days after sowing should not fall below – even at night, to still provide the seeds with an optimal climate.

In this context, water is an extremely important issue after seed application. The soil, as well as the young seedlings must be kept moist.

In order to achieve optimal, sustainable and low-maintenance greening or planting, both the 28m² system for underground watering, the BLUELITE-NET 28m² underground watering, LITE-STRIPS – mainly as a water storage for lawns – and LITE-NET – mainly for water distribution – are used here.

Above-ground irrigation has very many disadvantages:

  • High water waste due to evaporation and because the water often runs by somewhere and does not reach where the lawn needs it: the roots.
  • Waterlogging and lawn diseases
  • no mowing or walking on the lawn possible during irrigation
  • Surroundings such as garden furniture, upholstery also get wet

The BLUELITE-NET 28m² is an ideal solution if you want to avoid all this and have little time to water and / or want a permanent irrigation solution.

Conventional underground drip irrigation has disadvantages such as root ingrowth or blockage due to soil fines, damage to the pipe or uneven irrigation in complex soil structures. It is precisely to eliminate these disadvantages that the BLUELITE-NET 28m² system offers a sophisticated solution for water-saving subsurface irrigation for your lawn.

The cost-effective combination consists of 2 elements: A voluminous nonwoven net (LITE-NET) with a high pore content and a nonwoven protected irrigation hose (BLUELITE-TUBE) laid directly on top. Substrate is applied root-deep on top of this.

The water from the flexible drip irrigation tube is distributed longitudinally in the nonwoven covering evenly delivered to the LITE-NET nonwoven net underneath, where it is distributed capillary over a large area in the root zone. The contact surface between water and soil is multiplied by a factor of a thousand. The robust nonwoven cover protects the drippers against root ingrowth and against blockage by soil fines.

Due to the open and flexible net shape, roots can easily grow through the approx. 13 cm large openings and dock all around the thick nonwoven net This means that 100 % of the capillary water stored in the net is available to the plants when needed. Liquid fertiliser can also be applied very effectively to the roots. Since the system can be laid at any depth, plants can also be optimally supplied in the vegetation phase or in mixed crops. The nonwoven nets are very flexible, easy to cut, over 5 m wide and therefore easy and quick to lay. The 16 mm drip tubes have pressure-compensated drippers at a distance of 33 or 50 cm with a flow rate of approx. 2l/h. The pipes are laid at a distance of approx. 60 cm.

If such irrigation is not desired or possible, the LITE-STRIPS and LITE-NET water storage can also be used before scattering the seed for the lawn or spreading a turf.

The rain intervals are usually only short and remain in the top layer of soil without penetrating to the roots. But this is exactly what happens with the LITE-NET and the LITE-STRIPS, through these water storage the rainwater is transported exactly where the lawn needs it: to the roots!

With the LITE-NET, effective underground irrigation at root level can be implemented very easily. Lay the LITE-NET, which has been pulled apart to 4-5 times its original size, over the entire surface of the ground and apply a layer of soil deep into the roots.

It can be raised to the surface in places, where it absorbs rainwater and then distributes or stores it underground in the root zone. The LITE-NET not only stores water, but also distributes air and water over a large area and evenly at root depth.

It acts like a network of veins for the soil, whereby plants can easily grow through the network openings. That is why the LITE-NET can be inserted at any depth or, if necessary, in waves.

The LITE-STRIPS in turn, can be mixed into the soil in addition to or independently of the other products. LITE-STRIPS make the soil more permeable and also serve as a water storage. This saves you unnecessary watering. Simply mix approx. 0.5-1 l of LITE-STRIPS per m2 into the soil layer down to root depth, e.g. with a rake.

Either they are mixed into the soil above the LITE-NET or the BLUELITE-NET system (but also alone).

They increase the permeability, stability and water storage capacity of the base layer. They serve as a substrate enhancement for the lawn, transporting water quickly from the surface to the roots, distributing and storing it on site. This creates a kind of permanent aeration with reduced soil compaction and surface matting.
